Driver denies injuring woman in crash outside Thurso
A driver accused of causing serious injury to a woman by driving his car dangerously and at excessive speed on the outskirts of Thurso has had his jury trial postponed until later in the year.
Malcolm McEwan is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle which crossed the white line and collided with the oncoming car driven by the woman. Both vehicles were said to have been severely damaged in the crash on the A836 at the crossroads near the Weigh Inn on August 23, 2023.
The 30-year-old, of Longreen Road, Thrumster, pleaded not guilty and a jury trial had been scheduled for this week. But on Wednesday, solicitor Fiona MacDonald asked for an adjournment.
Sheriff Neil Wilson agreed to postpone it until the week commencing September 15.
