Police officers who stopped a drink-driving suspect had good cause to doubt his claim that he hadn't had a drink for three days.
William Robert McPhee (34) smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were glazed and he had difficulty in keeping them open, a court heard this week.
McPhee, of Grant Street, Wick, admitted driving with more than three times the legal amount of alcohol.
The accused was stopped by police in Huddart Street, Wick, on September 25, the town's sheriff court was told on Tuesday.
A breath-alcohol test revealed a level of 73mcg – the permitted legal level is 22mcg. When cautioned and charged with the offence, he replied: "Oops!"
McPhee was fined £265 and banned from driving for a year.
