Safety-conscious Lisa Macgregor wasn't happy about her sister's parking stance and decided to move the car.

However, after shifting the vehicle further along Howburn Road, in Thurso, on February 11, she came to the attention of the police.

A breath test proved positive and it resulted in the 35-year-old being banned from driving for a year at Wick Sheriff Court today.

She was also fined £200.

Macgregor, who lives in Howburn Road, co-operated fully with the officers and told them: "I have made a terrible mistake."

Fiscal David Barclay said it wasn't the manner of her driving that caught police attention but her demeanour.

A test returned a reading of 50mg – the legal limit is 22mg.

Solicitor George Mathers told the court that Macgregor thought the car was too near a corner and that "it would be dangerous" to leave it there so decided to shift it.

He appealed to Sheriff Gerrard Sinclair to be "as sympathetic as possible" under the circumstances.

The sheriff told Macgregor it was a timely reminder for her she can't drink and drive but added that he had taken account of the

mitigating factors and was prepared to restrict the fine to £200 – reduced from £300.
