Drag queens step out in style at Wick venue

A drag act is heading to the Seaforth Highlanders’ Club in Wick that will be headlined by Miss Scarlett Ruby with support from Emerald Versace.

Miss Scarlett Ruby’s out-of-drag name is Charlie Bryde who is 21-years-old and moved to Caithness in August 2023 “due to there being a high demand for entertainment, specifically drag” and to be part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Charlie said: “I previously performed successful drag gigs at Mr C’s Bar, in Thurso.

“I am a member and secretary of Stepping Out which is an LGBTQ+ group. Furthermore, I am a radio presenter at Caithness FM every Saturday, between 7pm and 9pm. This includes a mixture of genres and special guests. I do a lot of work in the community, including being an LGBTQ+ advocate, and I work very closely with a lot of organisations in Caithness.”

The doors open at 8:30pm and during the show, there will be “laughter, lip-syncing, audience lip-sync battle” and a raffle prize to be won. This event is also a fundraiser for the LGBTQ+ group, Stepping Out.
