CASTLETOWN community council has no chairman following the resignation of Doug Fraser.

He decided to stand down from the post he has held for five years because of other commitments. Mr Fraser informed his colleagues of his intention earlier this year.

Last night’s annual general meeting was his last time in the chair. His departure means the community council does not currently have a chairman although it is hoped to rectify the situation soon.

Mr Fraser said he could not give the time to the role that it deserved.

His colleagues paid tribute to his contribution to the community council.

Members also adopted the new constitution and standing orders brought in throughout Scotland following this week’s elections.
