Dog missing in Scarfskerry after being frightened by fireworks
A small dog has been missing in the Scarfskerry area of Caithness after being scared by fireworks on Saturday night.
Linda Holland (80) said she had heard something hit her window at around 7.30pm on Saturday and went out with six-year-old Patterdale terrier Tedd to investigate.
“I thought ‘what the heck was that’ and went out to have a look. I was at the end of the driveway and I didn’t know fireworks were being set off,” said Linda.
“I had Tedd with me and he’s got no collar on or anything and he’s jet black so I couldn’t see him in the dark. Suddenly, there was a massive explosion and the dog went off but I didn’t see which direction he went in.”
Linda said she could not find any object that could have hit her window and wondered if it may have been a bird that had been stunned and then took off again.
“He just got terrified by the fireworks. It was a tremendous bang that went off that was worse than gunfire.
“He’s a sturdy little dog and everybody knows him as he’s always out in our field. I am absolutely devastated. He’s my constant companion and goes with me everywhere.”

The community has already rose to the shout out on social media by one of her friends who has shared updates on various pages. Drones with infra-red features have been utilised to check the locale of Scarfskerry and Barrock and a special sniffing dog is due to come along today to help find Tedd.
There has been a possible sighting and Linda hopes to be reunited with her little dog soon.
