Dog dirt fines aren't working
A COMMUNITY said fines for dog owners for not cleaning up their pet’s mess aren’t working and turning their village into an anti-social place.
Residents in Keiss said some of the village’s most beautiful areas are being turned ugly due to the quantity of dog poop which is not being dealt with by owners.
Parents have voiced their concerns that unless the problem is dealt with soon, children who play on the beach are putting their health at risk.
Sinclair Bay Community Council secretary Vicky Mackay said on the spot fines for those who are guilty are pointless unless they are seen caught in the act by a dog warden.
She said unless owners take more responsibility for their actions, it will turn the village into an anti-social place.

“We are particularly concerned due to the health implication for the many children that play on the beach and in the dunes in all weathers and of course the fact that it is very antisocial,” she said.
“Approximately 30 volunteers cleaned up the shore from the harbour to the castle last weekend and the dog dirt was ripe and plentiful on the walk to the Keiss Castle ruins as well.”
