THE Dog Show is always a popular event at the Caithness County Show – and this year was no exception with a variety of animals taking part and a good number of entries.

Organiser, Donna Mackay, said: "We had 62 dogs over 15 classes. That was down on last year's figure of 88.

"Possibly the weather in the morning put a few people off but it was a quality entry and there were some very nice dogs there."

She added: "I would like to thank everyone who came along and entered their lovely dogs, for the support of the spectators around the ringside, our judge Mrs Catherine Woodsford and my helpers on the day."

Mrs Woodsford gave the coveted best in show award to Christine Lord, Barrock with her German Short Haired Pointer. The reserve best in show went to Ian Swanson, Wick with his Dachshund.

The winners in the Dog Show were from left: Christine Lord, Lochend (left) with her German Short Haired Pointer who was awarded Best in Show title, Ian Swanson, Wick with his Dachshund took the reserve prize while Sam Mackay, Castletown, won the Best Puppy in Show with his Jack Russell Terrier. Judge Catherine Woodsford, Lairg, is standing with the winners.
