Desperation blamed for food bank break-in

FOOD bank volunteers believe the financial desperation some people in Caithness are facing has been highlighted after several bags of food were stolen from its premises.

Thieves broke into Caithness Foodbank’s depot at Wick Youth Club and stole six bags of food meant for individuals and families struggling to feed themselves.

While shocked by the break-in, volunteers said the incident reflects the situation some of its clients face as demand for the service continues to grow.
