Deadline approaching for renewable energy payments
FAR North householders are being encouraged to cash in on a government scheme offering payments towards new renewable energy systems – before it ends in March next year.
Launched in August Renewable Heat Premium Payments is a short-term initiative providing one-off grants to residents to help them buy new technologies such as solar thermal panels and heat pumps through the Energy Saving Trust.
Green energy firm Active Sustainable Energy Systems is encouraging householders to take advantage of the scheme.
Managing director Ian Nicol said while switching to green energy offers savings in the long term, many people are uncertain due to the investment costs.
“The Renewable Heat Premium Payments are a fantastic mechanism to help subsidise the cost of moving to the different systems,” he said.

“This is a prime opportunity for households to think ahead to the future and make a positive change. There are many solutions available to suit all types of requirements.
“With the closing date of the scheme fast approaching, however, people need to act now to take advantage of these savings.”
