I AM 31 years old and live at Hempriggs. I grew up in Lybster. I served my time as a mechanical fitter at Dounreay. I feel very proud to have been born and brought up in Caithness.

I have been privileged to represent Landward Caithness for the past council term.

During these five years I have never been afraid to speak up on behalf of Caithness at meetings in Inverness and, if re-elected, this is what I will continue to do.

There are many important matters to consider over the coming years.

The school review remains a threat to our rural primary schools; I am opposed to any closures. Our roads need to be better maintained, with a better quality of resurfacing work paramount.

We should lobby the Scottish Government to improve sections such as Berriedale Braes and the Causewaymire.

I am determined that Caithness should have a high standard of social care which should be run within the county.

Opportunities for skilled employment must be supported to secure the area’s post-Dounreay economy.

This includes support for our farming and fishing.

I have always been clear that a councillor’s duty is to constituents and not to any politics.

I also firmly believe we are more than capable of running our own council services here and not from Inverness.
