Beavers Scouts from the Caithness and Sutherland district took part in a "Damboree" camp at Dunbeath.
The Beavers, aged between six and eight, from 1st Wick, 1st Thurso, 2nd Thurso and Reay Scout groups all took to canvas for the night at Dunbeath village hall. For some this was their first night away from home with their fellow Beavers.
The Beavers enjoyed some indoor activities during the rain before going on a short hike to Dunbeath beach, where they used all the natural materials from their surroundings to make the word Damboree on the beach.
It was then back to the village hall where the fire pit had been lit, a sing-song was had followed by hot chocolate, and roasting marshmallows on the fire before a night in their tents.
After breakfast the beavers were shown around the ice house and salmon bothy by Liza Gordon from the Dunbeath Heritage Centre, which was also visited.
Once back down to the village hall, certificates and badges where awarded to all the Beavers, leaders and parent helpers.
The Beavers would like to thank Dunbeath village hall for the use of the facilities, Liza Gordon and the leaders and helpers for helping to make the weekend Damboree such a success.
