Cyclist injured in road accident near Wick

An incident on the A99 road about one mile south of Wick led to one man sustaining minor injuries after his bicycle collided with a vehicle yesterday afternoon.

The cyclist was observed sitting on a pavement adjoining the road and tending to a sore leg at around 5.55pm yesterday. His cycling companion was helping tend to him and cleared the bikes from the road.

Various motorists stopped to assist at the scene but it is believed the injured cyclist required no hospital treatment.

Police Scotland issued a statement saying: "Police were made aware of a minor collision involving a car and a cyclist that happened on the A99 near Wick around 6pm on Sunday, 16 May. This was dealt with at the time by both parties at the scene and there was no requirement for police to attend."
