Cycling enthusiasts complete 1000-mile ride for the NSPCC

A GROUP of 18 cycling enthusiasts have completed a Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge – raising nearly £50,000 for a children’s charity.

The dedicated team of National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children volunteers, supporters and staff cycled the length of the UK in just 12 days in an effort to raise the huge sum for the charity’s ChildLine service.

The funds will enable ChildLine to answer many more calls and online messages from worried and upset children and young people across the UK.

Head of ChildLine Sue Minto said the group is “grateful” to the team for choosing to raise such an incredible amount of money.

“Without the generosity and energy of people like this, ChildLine would not be able to answer the thousands of contacts it receives from children every week,” she said.

“It costs £4 to answer a call or hold an online chat from a child who desperately needs to talk to someone about their problems, so if enough people donate to help the team reach their £50,000 target, we could help an extra 12,500 children.”
