Custody warning for Scotscalder man who threw water at police officer from cells
A Scotscalder man who threw a cup of water at a police officer has been given a chance to prove he can behave himself.
It happened after Philip Nicholson was put in a cell at Wick Police Station on July 20 after being arrested, Wick Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday.
The 48-year-old asked for a drink of water, and when it was passed to him through the cell hatch by Constable Alicia Simpson, he "showed his appreciation" for the gesture by throwing the cup back at her.
Nicholson, of Tighmomhathair, Scotscalder, appeared from custody and admitted charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest outside the police station earlier, as well as a record.
Sheriff Andrew Berry took into account that Nicholson had spent some time on remand and deferred sentence for six months to allow him to demonstrate he can behave.
The sheriff, who described Nicholson's behaviour as "wholly inappropriate", warned him: "There must be no repeat of this type of of offence or you are going to find yourself back in custody and it will be entirely your own fault."
