Pupils at Crossroads Primary School put their best foot forward to support an education programme led by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) and a leading shoe retailer.

They were taking part in ShoeShare, a Unicef campaign in partnership with Clarks Shoes, which involves collecting old or unwanted shoes that are sent for re-use. For every tonne of shoes collected, a donation is made to Unicef and this goes towards education programmes around the world.

The Crossroads pupils organised the collection in the school and members of the public were able to leave shoes at the school gate. Once quarantined, all shoes were paired up and boxed before being delivered to Clarks' shop in Inverness on Saturday.

The initiative was led by the pupil council and rights ambassadors as part of the school’s Rights Respecting accreditation as the pupils were taking action to promote the rights of others globally.
