Pupils at Crossroads Primary School have contributed to the Highland One Vision Mock COP27, aimed at raising awareness of the landmark global political conference about climate change.

The children were asked to identify a climate issue of concern to them and link it to sustainable development goals. After researching water pollution, they worked together to make a "before and after" piece of artwork to be displayed as part of the Mock COP27.

It shows a stark contrast between a clean, healthy and colourful marine environment and one blighted by pollution from plastics and other man-made materials.

Comments included: "It showed me how water pollution affects animals in their water environment..." "I really wouldn't want to swim on the polluted side but I would love to go on the good clean side..." "We all enjoyed doing the art...." "I loved it."

These will be displayed at Highland Council chambers during COP27 fortnight as part of the Mock COP, and via social media platforms.

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference – known as COP27 – takes place from November 6-18 in Egypt.
