Crook jailed for year
TRYING to sell stolen items has landed a man in jail after police picked up his trail.
Jason Crompton was given 12 months’ imprisonment after admitting resetting DJ equipment, a CB radio, ornaments and a quantity of jewellery within Wick on January 21.
The 39-year-old, a prisoner of Barlinnie Prison, appeared from custody on indictment at Wick Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to the offence which involved items worth £2600 which had been stolen from a house in Wick.
Senior fiscal depute David Barclay said Crompton had been seen with some of the items which he was trying to sell.
Sheriff Andrew Berry said: “This sentence is to reflect the gravity of the matter. It is quite clear you are no stranger to the system and prepared to engage in most types of criminal behaviour.”
Crompton’s sentence was backdated to February 10.
