Covid statistics show 502 cases in Caithness in latest seven-day period

There were 502 new Covid-19 cases in Caithness in the most recent seven-day period recorded by Public Health Scotland.

Among the county's seven neighbourhoods, Thurso West had the highest number of positive tests at 123 based on people tested for the virus between March 13 and 19. This gave Thurso West a seven-day rate per 100,000 population of 2688.5.

There were 102 positive cases in Caithness North West, 78 in Wick South, 58 in Wick North and 55 in Thurso East.

Caithness North East had 48 cases and there were 38 in Caithness South.

There were 87 positive tests in the Sutherland South neighbourhood, 66 in Sutherland East and 60 in Sutherland North and West.

Positive cases across the Highland local authority area from March 13-19 totalled 4473, with a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 population of 1899.9 for the region as a whole.

The Highland neighbourhood with the highest rate was Ross and Cromarty North West (a seven-day rate of 3345.6, with 109 positive cases).

Public Health Scotland's interactive dashboard has a map giving the number of cases in individual neighbourhoods throughout Scotland. Most neighbourhoods have between 2500 and 6000 residents.
