Court verdict means Prime Minister must resign, says Stone
North MP Jamie Stone has demanded that Boris Johnson should resign following the Prime Minister's humiliating defeat in the Supreme Court.
The court, led by Lady Hale, ruled by a thumping 11-0 majority verdict that the Conservative PM's decision to prorogue parliament was unlawful.
The Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, has already stated that parliament should reconvene in light of the court's decision and Mr Stone backed up his sentiment as he also insisted MPs should once again take up their seats at Westminster.
Mr Stone said: "Lady Hale has said this was 'not a normal prorogation' and she is quite right.
"It was an attempt by the Government to force through a no-deal Brexit which the Government knows would be incredibly damaging.
"Today the UK’s Supreme Court has upheld the decision of the Scottish court and ruled that prorogation was illegal and that parliament should have been sitting.
"Boris Johnson has lied to the Queen. He has misled parliament and he has broken the law. He is not fit to govern.
"Parliament must be recalled immediately and he should resign."
