A claim that cannabis was being used as a potential cure for “ringing in the ears” has been heard in court.

The claim was put forward at Wick Sheriff Court by solicitor Fiona MacDonald on behalf of Darren More who admitted producing the Class B drug.

Police searching the 46-year-old’s home in Dunnett Avenue, Wick, on December 14 last year discovered a single plant.

The fiscal added that More told them he had used the drug for “self-medicating purposes” and Miss MacDonald confirmed the use of the drug to combat “ringing in the accused’s ears”.

The first offender was fined £225.
