A Caithness couple have donated £5000 to the local branch of Enable, Scotland's largest charity for people who have learning disabilities.

Graham and Carole Mellor made the presentation at their home at Stirkoke. They have given charitable donations in the past and chose Enable this year because they have long admired the work of the voluntary-run Caithness branch.

Branch chairman Willie Mackay said: “It is absolutely wonderful to receive such a large donation from Graham and Carole, for which we are sincerely grateful.

"Next year our local branch will be celebrating its 60th year of providing year-round events, outings and activities for our members throughout Caithness.

"The past 18 months, of course, has seen our Enable programme completely disrupted owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, but I’m very hopeful that myself and the management committee can get together to plan ahead for the 60th celebrations."
