Castletown country music star Brandon McPhee is flying high after topping the charts.

Brandon soared to number one in the Joyce Ramgatie Country Top 20 Singles Chart with his collaboration with Irish country legends Foster and Allen.

Their cover of the Skipinnish song penned by Robert Robertson and Angus McPhail, Walking on the Waves, has struck a chord with country fans who have flocked in their droves to hear it and put it on top of the hit parade.

Brandon also soared to number five in a separate Joyce Ramgatie chart – the Top 200 Artists Chart – and both countdowns see him above such famous country music figures like Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.

He said: "I'm delighted with how well the song has done.

"I didn't think about the song possibly doing so well when recording it. I was delighted to just be recording alongside Foster and Allen who have been heroes of mine.

"I heard the news about the number one after doing a week of Christmas concerts.

I'll be looking to branch out further afield.

"I had not long finished a show at Elgin when I received an email saying we had got to number one."

Brandon, though, will not be resting on his laurels as 2020 promises to be another busy year for him.

He added: "I'm currently doing a DVD recording and we've also got a new album to be released.

"It is called The Brandon McPhee Experience and there will be a mix of songs covering genres such as accordion, pop and country and western.

"The album will basically be what you could expect to hear when coming along to one of our shows.

"As for touring, I'll be looking to branch out further afield and perform some concerts not only in Scotland but also Ireland and England."
