Councillor Willie plays his part in Burns lunches in Wick
Local councillor Willie Mackay has been taking part in a series of events honouring Robert Burns.
Willie, of Oldhall, Watten, has been an admirer of Scotland's national bard for some 25 years.
Two of his engagements were in Wick – at the Pulteney Centre luncheon club on Wednesday and a lunch for residents of Pulteney House care home on Thursday.
Also on his agenda are two Burns suppers in Sutherland – at Carbisdale Castle and in his native Embo – along with a Monday Club event in Thurso.
One of Willie's specialities is to recite the 101 lines of Holy Willie's Prayer, as well as addressing the haggis.

Burns celebrations are held annually in Scotland and internationally around January 25, the date of his birth in Alloway, Ayrshire, in 1759.
The first Burns supper was held in 1801 by nine of the bard's friends, five years after his death in 1796 at the age of 37.
Willie represents Wick and East Caithness on Highland Council and supports many community organisations.
