Highland Council issued a winter road report for today warning of wintry conditions on Caithness roads which are being treated accordingly.
The Caithness road report posted at 8.02am states: "All routes reporting black ice with frozen snow and slush and a good sparkle in areas. Footpaths reporting a good sparkle with ice areas. Treatment ongoing. No overnight issues reported."
The report for Sutherland posted 8.25am says: "Very icy central and east Sutherland, milder in the west. All routes currently being treated. No known problems."
The Ross and Cromarty report, posted 7.53am, is: "Widespread ice across the network this morning, with secondary routes and others worst affected. All routes being treated this morning including footpaths."
The information provided is a summary of reports from the council's operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
