Condemned toilet block set for its final flush
THURSO’S condemned stand-alone toilet block in Riverside Road is to be demolished.
Workmen arrived on site this week in preparation to clear the site.
Major cracks in the structure found during a survey a few years ago were the last nails in the coffin for the public toilets.
A Highland Council spokeswoman confirmed on Wednesday that a replacement is in the pipelineworks.
“The toilets are being demolished and they will be replaced,” she said.

“I believe that there are arrangements in place to redirect the public to alternative toilet facilities in the area.”
Thurso’s community council previously heard the Highland Council is committed to building a replacement on the same site.
The toilets in Campbell Street have been opened in the meantime.
