Competitors journey from far and wide for Thurso Festival of Highland Dancing





The ever-popular Thurso Festival of Highland Dancing was held in Keiss Hall on Sunday, June 8.

The festival was run by the Mina Mackay School of Dance, and competitors travelled from across the Highlands and Orkney to take part.

Judges for the event were Gemma Baillie from South Queensferry and Lezley Anderson, who comes from Dundee.

There were 94 dancers in the competition from the age of four years old and up.

As well as trophies for each section, there were ‘overall trophy’ winners.

The Overall Beginner Dancer at the event was Ohana McPhee from Wick. The competition’s Overall Novice Dancer was Ava Mackay from Inverness.

Overall Premier Dancer was Carly Harold from Wick.
