Suzy Reid is a lifeline for many vulnerable families in her Inverness community, providing emergency food and toiletries all year round.
Our Community Champion is a true inspiration, quietly working away and making a massive impact all year round – as well as caring for her son who has additional needs.
In March 2022, on her own initiative, she set up a community shed in the garden at her Hilton home and filled it with donated foodstuffs, toiletries and other essential items for folk to come in and get what they need when they need it.
There are now six self-service honesty sheds, providing bric-a-brac, toys and other goods as well as continuing with food and toiletries which are donated by the public and local business community.
She also helps parents needing clothing for their children.
For those families struggling with the cost of living, Suzy really has made all the difference.
Not only that, she dedicates time to decorating her popular garden at Halloween and Christmas for the community to enjoy.
As well as taking donations from those who enjoy the displays, she also sells treats to raise funds to buy more food, making sure her food sheds are always stocked and people are always accommodated.
Yet she takes no praise for herself, often thanking the public for supporting her endeavours.
She is an amazing lady, full of love and wanting to help everyone.
Speaking about winning the Community Champion award, Suzy said: "It is brilliant news.
"I didn't expect to have even been shortlisted so to win is amazing.
"I just want to say thank you to all my followers on social media for voting for me.
"Also, without them and the incredible community I have, the shed would not exist!
"They are fantastic and provide all the donations."
