The Commonwealth Games closing ceremony takes place at Hampden Park on Sunday when over 40,000 fans will attend to celebrate a memorable 10 days of world-class sport.

Thurso Cinema, along with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, agreed a deal with the BBC to broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of Glasgow 2014 at 25 cinemas across the UK and the opener proved to be a success.

Over 60 people attended Thurso Cinema on July 23 to watch the opening ceremony.

They were treated to a mesmerising display of Scottish ballet to the tune of “500 Miles”, performances from Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Amy McDonald, dancing Tunnock’s tea cakes and John Barrowman’s Scottish accent.

The closing ceremony is to feature Lulu, Deacon Blue and Kylie Minogue, who will be representing Australia as the 2018 games will be held in Gold Coast, Queensland.

The event is free but tickets will be served on a first-come first-served basis.
