The annual vintage and classic rally at John O’Groats will have some additional features and activities for visitors this year.

The long-running event is run by members of Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club (CSVCVC). They will be joined by their counterparts from Caithness Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club who will show agricultural exhibits alongside the usual range of vintage, historic and classic cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and other machines.

CSVCVC chairman James Green said: “We welcomed the request from Caithness Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club to join us at John O’Groats. This will bring another element to the show this year, with the two clubs collaborating to put on the expanded event.”

Tractor and machinery club chairman Andrew Mackay said: “We were looking to put on a local show. However, it seemed a good idea to join the existing rally, and we were delighted that Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club agreed to allow us to work together at this year’s event.”

The 2024 rally is scheduled for Sunday, June 9.

There will be a selection of craft stalls organised by Artisans North, traders and family activities including a play area and Caithness Animal Farm Park. The local fire brigade will be present and there will be plenty of other family-friendly attractions.

To mark the 55th anniversary of CSVCVC there will be a special exclusive bottling of Wolfburn whisky – available for sale only at the rally field on the day.

Public entry is by cash donation at the gate into the exhibition field. Parking is free.

At last year’s show the oldest vehicle on display was a Model T Ford dating from 1913.

Winner of the best exhibit for the Edward Sutherland Memorial Trophy was a 1970 Morris light van owned by Alan Ross from Wick. A cheque for £500 was handed over for John O'Groats Development Trust’s play park project.
