Three Caithness classic cars were part of a charity tour taking in some of the most scenic parts of the Highlands on Saturday.

The members of the Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club were raising money, together with others, for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance and 60 vehicles in total took part in the run.

The fundraising trip is officially called the Rotary Club of East Sutherland Coast to Coast Classic Car Tour and the Caithness contingent included Ethel and James Green in a 1999 BMW Z3; Bert Macleod (ex club chairman) in a 1963 Humber Sceptre; along with Les Bremner and Linda Johns in their 1976 Monarch Triumph Stag.

Les Bremner said it was an annual event that took in some of the finest sights of Caithness and Sutherland and started at Royal Dornoch and ended at John O'Groats. "We had a couple of rain showers but it was mostly dry," he said.

"A gentleman with a chequered flag and a huge beard flagged us off at intervals from Dornoch in three groups of 20 vehicles each. The lunches were laid on in advance and the appropriate places knew how many were coming. It was a really great day and what made it for me was the back road from Balnacoil to Brora."
