AN acclaimed clarsach player is to entertain in Caithness next month as part of the Music in Thurso season.

Corrina Hewat will take to the stage in Thurso West Church on November 7, bringing a mix of traditional tunes and self-penned compositions to the audience.

Starting at 7.30pm, this will be her second show of the day, as she is also scheduled to play at the Spectrum Centre in Inverness at lunchtime.

In what is the second of this season's Music in Thurso events, Hewat will perform solo, an unusual departure for her as she is renowned for her collaborative work. However, on this tour she is looking forward to sharing songs, stories and tunes from her 25 years as a professional musician.

Hewat, who was brought up in the Black Isle, is a harpist, singer, composer and arranger, musical director, recording artiste, musical collaborator, workshop leader and principal Scottish harp tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Tickets for the Thurso concert are available at the door and cost £10. Children can attend free.
