Christmas gifts handed over by Friends of Caithness General Hospital in Wick

The League of Friends of Caithness General Hospital handed over their annual Christmas gifts for the benefit of patients and staff in the various departments.

The gifts were accepted on behalf of the departments by (from fourth left), staff nurses Mandy More, and Freya Shearer, from A&E, health care assistant Paula Binnie, and staff midwives Pam McBeath and Kerrie Sutherland from maternity.

They were handed over by Friends chairwoman Annette Sinclair (third left), along with secretary Lottie Shearer (right), treasurer Lorette Mackay (third right), and committee members Barbara Nicol, (second right), Fiona Campbell (left) and Marjory Miller (second left).

Among the items handed over were a television for the maternity department, CD player and CDs for the Rosebank Wing, phones, magnets, mirrors and hair clippers for the Bignold Wing, pyjamas, wipeable toys, colouring books, emergency packs, and selection boxes for A&E and mugs and skin creams for the ambulatory department.

They also handed over a £3000-plus AccuVein machine which helps locate patients’ veins.
