THOSE dreaming of a white Christmas are likely to be disappointed as tomorrow is set to be the warmest Christmas day in Caithness for years.

Met Office forecasts indicate it will be mild with a fair amount of cloud cover and a stiff breeze.

Chief forecaster Martin Young said: "In stark contrast to last year the chance of any of us actually seeing a white Christmas this year is almost negligible," he said.

"In fact it is more likely to be a Christmas of rather grey skies and green grass."

Heavy rain is predicted to fall throughout Caithness tomorrow but temperatures will be in double figures reaching a high of 12C.
