King Charles continued his tradition of donating a Christmas cake to Crossroads Primary School courtesy of the Castle of Mey this year.

Primary 7 pupil Elana Myatt and Brodie Green (2) from the associated Scallywags nursery were pictured with the cake on the last day of term on Friday.

The cake, described by school staff as “amazing”, was created by Jenny Dunnet who cleverly made the baubles into hot chocolate bombes.

The cake tradition began with the Queen Mother, as Crossroads was the closest school to her Caithness holiday home at the Castle of Mey, and it was maintained by Prince Charles, who continued it last year when he became King Charles III.
