Reiss Gardening Club had an excellent display of flowers, fruit and vegetables at their annual show this month.

The committee said that overall entries were higher than expected and they were delighted with how well the event was supported by the public.

Tables were full in all sections of pot plants, cut flowers, fruit, vegetables and floral art.

Noss Primary School's Miss Mackenzie got her P4 pupils to provide a colourful display of autumn scene pictures for the junior competition.

Tea and cake was enjoyed throughout the evening and a sales table of delicious home bakes, produce and plants proved popular.

Reiss Gardening Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month, in Reiss Hall, at 2pm with a varied programme of talks and social events throughout the year.

New members are always welcome.

The next meeting is on October 3 when a talk on orchids will be given by James MacDonald from Thurso.
