A charge against a man of stealing a collie dog has been dropped – at least for now.

David Drummond, of Wester Balgour, Glamis, had previously been accused of stealing the black and white border collie from a house at Sarclet, on March 19, last year.

The case was called again at Wick Sheriff Court this week when the 67-year-old accused was due to tender a plea.

However, Fiscal David Barclay informed Sheriff David Sutherland that he was deserting the charge "pro loco et tempore".

This means that the case is dropped meantime but can be re-activated at a later date.
