A Reay driver is facing a charge of dangerous driving alleging he reached excessive speeds of up to 101mph.

Jordon Crawford, of The Cross, Reay, pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday. He will stand trial on January 31.

The charge alleges that the 28-year-old exceeded the 60mph legal limit on a stretch of the A9 at Achavanich featuring signed hazards such as bends, and entrances to farms and houses.

The road traffic offence is said to have occurred on May 15.
