THE "carousel of chaos" at Westminster has led to a "total collapse of public confidence in the UK government" and the Prime Minister Liz Truss needs to call an election, Far North MP Jamie Stone has argued.
The Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP has warned that "from Wick to Penzance people want their say" amid utter chaos in Westminster - with Home Secretary Suella Braverman's sacking/resignation yesterday and public scenes of Tory infighting last night just the latest political drama to hit the government.
Mr Stone said: "This is the second sacking from the three UK 'Great Offices of State' in four days. It doesn't take a mathematician to understand that those numbers equal disaster.
"We are facing a political crisis; a total collapse of public confidence in the UK Government whilst the Tory party desperately scrambles for the reins that flew from its grasp long ago. From Wick to Penzance, the people want their say. Truss needs to give up the game and call a General Election."
Also responding to Braverman's departure as Home Secretary, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesperson, Alistair Carmichael said: “This is a government in chaos. People should not be forced to watch the Conservative party implode day after day while real people suffer.
“There is a of cost of living catastrophe, health service crisis and now a rudderless home office.
“The only solution now is a General Election so the public can get off this carousel of Conservative chaos.”
