Women’s and girls’ football clubs across the Highland and Islands have a final chance to apply for funding of up to £1000 to help their teams.

The grant from league sponsor ScottishPower could be used for transport to fixtures, new match day kits, training equipment, upgrades to facilities or even coaching expenses.

Four separate £1000 prizes are up for grabs in the funding competition.

Clubs can apply via the Scottish Women’s Football website by sharing in 500 words or less on how they would spend their funding if successful.

Launched as part of the renewable energy company becoming the first ever title sponsor for Scottish Women’s Football’s Highlands and Islands league, the competition is open to all grassroots women’s and girls’ clubs across the region and comes as the latest initiative in the landmark three-year partnership deal, dedicated to energising women’s football at every age and stage across the country.

The competition closes on May 29, with winners to be contacted in June.

Aileen Campbell, CEO at Scottish Women’s Football, said: “This competition provides a great opportunity for our Highlands and Islands clubs to win some vital additional funding.

“We’ll be judging the applications together with ScottishPower to help make sure that the competition supports clubs where it is needed most.”
