Cynthia Grant has been playing the right notes at Keiss Church of Scotland as its organist for six decades and was recognised for her service with a special certificate.
Reverend Janet Easton-Berry from the church presented Cynthia with the certificate that was signed by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland.
Rev Easton-Berry said: "Cynthia Grant has been playing the organ for 60 years at Keiss Church of Scotland – her parents were actively involved with the church and her father was an elder. She was initially asked to play for two Sundays and Cynthia said ‘that was me’ – it has gone on ever since."
Cynthia was presented with the long service award by Rev Easton-Berry and Susanna Mackay who is the granddaughter of a "much loved elder" of the church, Irene Mackay, who sadly passed away last year and was a great friend of Cynthia's.
Rev Easton-Berry added: "We are all so thankful to Cynthia for her dedicated service in playing the organ for us in all our services. Someone present made a comment about looking forward to being there for her next 60-year certificate!
Christine Shearer arranged the flowers that were given to Cynthia and a special cake was baked by Christine’s granddaughter Annie. Christine is an elder at Canisbay Church which is one of the four churches making up Pentland Parish. Christine’s father was a minister in Canisbay Church of Scotland – Reverend Bell.
