Plans for a special celebration in Wick for those turning 60 this year have been put on hold.

Celebrating 60 in 2020 was to take place from June 19-21, with the town's Norseman Hotel as the base for activities.

One of the organisers, Pat Ramsay, said: "Our wee team made the decision to postpone our planned event to celebrate our 60th birthdays. It was organised for midsummer weekend in June but we decided it is best to put on hold and reschedule for next year.

"We will plan again after the restrictions are lifted and ensure all goes ahead in style. We hope with the same format and sense of fun. All monies have been refunded for those who had paid out already."

The event was being organised by Pat along with two school chums, Magi Sinclair and Professor Iain Baikie, to celebrate their 60th birthdays – they were born in 1960.

The celebration was for anyone reaching the milestone birthday in 2020, not just for classmates.

Included in the itinerary were a number of tours around the community, a carvery dinner and a "nip and a dip" at Reiss beach.
