More often than not, someone's personal struggle with an issue will lead them to help others.

This is exactly what Kerry Harrison has done after a long time trying to better her own health condition. Based in Castletown, Kerry has travelled to various places in Scotland and has spent thousands of pounds on treatment to combat the pain and discomfort she was having.

She looked into many things, and one day she found out about vitamin injections.

Kerry explained more: “I started receiving vitamin injections from a nurse privately, and I admit that I was a bit sceptical about the process.

"I generally don't believe something works, until it's proved to me, but in a short time of getting the injections, I started

to notice that I was sleeping better, had less brain fog, I was in less pain and I was just generally managing my days better.

“Within a few months of getting the infusions, I was able to reduce my medication for my nerve pain.”

Having found such success with the treatment, and being someone who is interested in health and wellness, Kerry decided to undertake training so she could provide the service in the north of Scotland. She now runs On Point, where she offers vitamin injections, infusions and other health services.

Kerry explained she first trained in injection techniques and nutrition, before going on to other aspects of treatments: “I had excellent one-to-one training with a qualified advanced nurse practitioner, and I have now built up my knowledge, experience and qualifications.

"I also have some of Scotlands best medical team behind me for further training and mentoring.

“I don’t want people to have to travel 110 miles and often further for treatments, when they can get it at home.”

Kerry has built-up her business from scratch, creating a modern, clinical treatment room where she sees new and returning clients returning for her services.

Explaining more about how the treatments work Kerry said: “We assume we can get all the vitamins and nutrients we need based on food or oral supplements.

“However, this is simply not the case, just because its on your plate or goes in your mouth does not mean we absorb it through our gastrointestinal tract (GI) tract even for the healthiest of people. It also varies hugely on other factors like illnesses, conditions, stress, menstrual cycles, and medication's to name a few.

"If people have things such as IBS, Chron's disease, colitis, hormone inbalances and even sleep deprivation, then the gut will not absorb the nutrients fully and our bodies continue to function poorly, so it is hard to get the nutrients we need based on food and supplements alone.

“With the infusions the vitamins go straight into the bloodstream, so it works quickly and effectively with 100 per cent uptake in the body.

She added: “I have a few people who have Parkinson's and MS who come along and get some specific infusions. It obviously doesn’t cure them, but they have said that it helps with their symptoms.”

With the NHS currently struggling, Kerry’s business helps people to meet health needs in a more holistic manner.

“I think people looked a lot more into different methods of healthcare during lockdown”, commented Kerry.

“People became more health conscious and looked at more natural ways of doing things whether it be for their physical or mental well-being.

She joked: “We all thought we were the first to climb a mountain or swim in the sea at the time but the reality was, we were all looking to improve ourselves and do what we could.

“But in all seriousness, people did a lot more research and became informed about other ways of looking after themselves.”

Kerry has an experienced background in healthcare, alongside a vast knowledge of anatomy and physiology and specialises in cannulation and needle techniques. On Point provides a range of other treatments such as aesthetics, treatment for scarring, skin lesions, pigmentation, hair loss, blood tests, PRP, piercings and lots more from her treatment room.

She hopes she can train further in other specific areas so that On Point can offer more. She said: "If something makes you feel good mentally or physically or even just improves your self-confidence, then I am all for it!

“I never want to provide a service here that people don’t want or don’t need. This is a small community, and word travels quick. I love helping people and seeing results so I will only ever provide treatments that make a difference."
