Pupils from Castletown Primary School have been paying their respects to the war dead from the local area.

The P4-5-6 class, accompanied by class teacher Susan Watson and pupil support assistant Hazel Gunn, attended the Olrig war memorial in the village on Armistice Day to observe the national two-minute silence at 11am.

The children recited a verse from Binyon’s poem For the Fallen and cornet player Katrina Gordon, from Pentland Brass Band, played the Last Post and Reveille.

On the walk back to school, the pupils admired the poppy cascade created by Caithness Community Connections that is on display outside Castletown Youth Club.
