The post office in Castletown is due to close for five weeks as the store is modernised in a major refit, while an outreach service at Dunnet is due to cease permanently.

The company said extensive building work at the premises on Main Street in Castletown would begin on Friday, May 5, at 10pm.

The work is expected to take five weeks, with the branch due to reopen on Tuesday, June 6, at 9am.

Adam Shillcock, Post Office partner account manager, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work.

"The safety of our customers is of paramount importance, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily. Afterwards the community will benefit from a modern, improved store.”
