A community café in Castletown is set to extend its menu to build on its success since opening eight months ago.
Christine Stone, publicity officer for ’e Peedie Café board, is delighted with the support for the venture so far and hopes offering something new will attract more visitors.
"The support has been incredible and the team remain thankful for those who have made ’e Peedie Café their new meeting place, week on week," she said.
"’e Peedie Café is never short of customers and has a healthy number of volunteers helping out in the kitchen on a weekly basis. The café retains its vision to foster inclusive, Christian care and to offer folk a safe space to meet, mingle and enjoy the company of others."
The volunteer team at the café, which is situated within the village's Drill Hall, has opted to add soup and crusty bread to its menu on a Tuesday, starting on February 25, with the intention of moving to sandwiches and toasties in the future.
Mrs Stone said: "At this time, the volunteers at ’e Peedie Café are immensely thankful for the ongoing support and hope that this new initiative will further add to 'e Peedie Café's growing popularity."
The team is also planning to celebrate Shrove Tuesday on February 25. Fresh pancakes are already popular at the café but on that day the volunteers will be providing extra-large pancakes with an array of fresh fruit and cream.
The café is open on Tuesdays from noon until 4pm and Wednesdays from 1.30pm until 4pm.
