Capturing Caithness 2016 - enter our readers’ calendar photography competition

The race is on to get your entries in for this year's Caithness calendar competition.
The race is on to get your entries in for this year's Caithness calendar competition.

FROM the wondrous colours of the aurora borealis to the awe-inspiring blend of expansive landscape and rugged coastline, the county boasts innumerable scenes of spectacular beauty whatever the weather. But what’s your favourite Caithness landmark? And have you ventured out to capture it on camera yet?

We’re asking all budding photographers to demonstrate their skill behind the camera and their passion for our county throughout the seasons by entering North of Scotland Newspapers’ readers’ calendar competition 2016.

It follows the success of last year’s memorable challenge which attracted a healthy variety of images capturing the lush landscapes, dazzling sunsets and truly stunning coastal scenes our county has to offer.

The eventual winner – following a public vote – was Lewis Mackenzie, of Inverness, whose shot of Westerdale mill on the road to Loch More claimed the much-coveted front cover prize.

So the race is on once more to get your entries in and show off the picture-perfect scenes which inspire you.

From your entries we’ll choose a short list of 20 images which will then be put forward for a public vote to decide the 12 winning shots for our Caithness Calendar 2016. The one which attracts the most public votes will again take pride of place on the calendar’s front cover.

Your photographs will be seen by thousands of people not just in the north of Scotland but around the world, so get clicking now and help show off what really is so attractive about Caithness.
