Nominations are being sought to recognise stars of the far north sporting scene.

The annual awards handed out by Caithness Sports Council (CSC) were suspended over the pandemic.

But they are back this year with an extra category added to the gongs up for grabs at the presentation ceremony early next month.

The sports council is looking to find a Caithness Sportsman, Caithness Sportswoman and Caithness Parasportsperson for 2022.

The new award will recognise the achievements by performers aged 18 or under.

Nominations are also being invited for the established Caithness service-to-sport award which is being put up by its parent body, Scottish ClubSport.

The latter recognises the long-time voluntary contribution made by stalwarts beavering away in the background to keep their club alive and thriving. This could be in the role of a coach, official or committee member.

The closing date for nominations for the five categories is Monday, November 21.

The awards will be presented immediately before CSC's next committee meeting in North Shore Surf Club's base at Thurso East on December 6.
