Call to get behind LeJOG pooch
DOG lovers in Caithness are being urged to support a hero hound which set off on an end-to-end journey more than three months ago.
Eight-year-old flat-coat retriever Barney began his adventure raising money for Guide Dogs walking from Land’s End on March 26 and he is now nearing the end of the road.
The pooch, who reached Fort William on Sunday, has so far walked over 1100 miles and is due to arrive at John O’Groats on August 2 alongside owners Bob and Jos Mahon.
Barney is an experienced trekker and has done long walks before, including completing 220 of the 282 Munros.
The Mahons have a history of sight loss in the family and are aiming to raise £5500 for Guide Dogs.

The Dogs Unite for Guide Dogs organisation is now calling on all super dogs in the area to show their support for Barney by joining its Match a Mile for Barney initiative.
By matching a mile, local dogs can help raise awareness and funds for Guide Dogs.
