New members of Caithness West Community Council are being sought.

CANDIDATES considering standing for two vacancies on Caithness West Community Council have until 4pm on Wednesday to return their election nomination forms.

Caithness West is just one of six community councils in the Highland area which currently does not have enough members.

The vacancies at Caithness West were caused by the deaths of two members earlier this year.

Under the rules, people aged 16 can stand for membership and can also vote in the election.

The deadline for 16 and 17-year-olds requesting to be included on the register is Friday.

Nomination forms are available from the Highland Council’s website – www.highland.gov.uk

They can also be obtained from any council service point, or by contacting the council service centre on 01349 886606.
